Laurie, a seasoned professional, holds the title of Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) with an extensive experience spanning over 20 years. Her expertise extends to Certified Addictions Counselor (CADC) and Mental Illness and Substance Abuse Counselor (MISAII) designations. Laurie has earned Master's degrees in both Community Counseling and School Leadership, along with licenses including a School Counseling license (type 73 license) and a School Leadership license (type 75 license). Furthermore, she is certified in Clinical Hypnosis and has completed training as a Life Coach, showcasing her diverse skill set in addressing various aspects of mental health and well-being.



Laurie specializes in the treatment of addictions, anxiety, depression, and family systems. Her expertise extends to working with diverse populations, including individuals, children, adolescents, and families, as well as providing couple counseling. Laurie is dedicated to tailoring her approach to treatment based on the unique needs of each individual, recognizing the importance of personalized care in addressing mental health challenges.

Laurie employs a diverse range of clinical formats, including talk therapy, play therapy, and group therapy. Her therapeutic approach is known for its engaging personal style and holistic perspective. Laurie focuses on fostering a balanced lifestyle that contributes to emotional wellness. She integrates relaxation training and cognitive-behavioral treatment for depression, anxiety disorders, and various stress-related issues. In 2018, Laurie published a book titled "Moving Through It," which explores the integration of exercise and cognitive-behavioral therapy for individuals dealing with depression and anxiety.


As an active member of professional associations, Laurie is part of the Illinois Schools Counseling Association (ISCA) and has served as its past president in 2013. She is also affiliated with the Illinois Mental Health Counseling Association (IMCHA) and the American Counseling Association. Laurie's dedication to her field was recognized in 2008 when she received the Elementary School Counselor of the Year award. Presently, she serves as the President of the Illinois Mental Health Counseling Association (IMCHA) and holds a position as a Governing Board member for the Illinois Counseling Association (ICA).



In her academic role, Laurie serves as a full-time faculty member at National Louis University since 2012, holding the position of Assistant Professor and co-chair of the Counseling department. She teaches graduate courses in both Community Mental Health and School Counseling, contributing her expertise to the education and training of future mental health professionals.
